Increase our textile recycling rates | Give unwanted clothes a new lease of life

Give pre-loved clothes a re-vamp, or up the recycling of textiles.

"One man's rubbish is another man's treasure." And it's true! Our old clothes and fabrics still have a value, maybe not to us anymore, but to charity shops, friends, neighbours or the homeless, they are gifts.

If you’ve tried this and no one else wants them, then make sure they are recycled correctly* so that the council can dispose of them properly and they don't pollute the atmosphere.

Currently, Bristol only captures 2%** of textiles for recycling, so there's lots of room for improvement.

Or, if you think they have some life left in them, below are some organisations that can help out.

*Put any unwanted used clothes into an untied bag and pop it in your black recycling box.
