Stop heat loss at home | Save money

Stop the heat escaping from your home and you'll reduce your energy bill, cut your carbon footprint, and keep warm!

Although every home is different there are some common areas that we can all focus on to help make our homes warmer, and keep our electricity and gas bills down.

Firstly, it’s important to work out how and where most heat escapes from in our homes. Published stats state that approximately 25% of the heat from your boiler will be lost through the roof, 35% will leave through the walls, 10% gets out through the floor, and the rest through your doors and windows, just stopping drafts will reduce your energy bills!

However, there are things you can do to start limiting heat loss that are easy and cost effective. Stopping heat loss from the roof is simple, wall insulation becomes more complex depending upon what style of house you live in, cavity wall or not. We've rounded up the Centre for Sustainable Energy in Bristol and Somerset's guides to help you on your way.
